Gold Type II Chromate Plating increases corrosion resistance and internal locking threads eliminate rope wear. Easy-opening gate-lock design works under load. Same "D" shape as our 7/16" model, but with bigger material for increased strength. Same great handling and use characteristics but with a strength rating of 65kN (that's over 14,000 lbs.). Like all our carabiners, every ½" Modified D is individually proof-tested to half it's rated strength which means every one of these has been proven to hold over 7000 lbs!

The original CMI Rescue "8" ring is designed specifically for high angle rescue work. This larger version of the CMI '8' ring offers important additional benefits. Extended "horns" on the upper portion of the large ring prevent the rope from sliding up and locking off. The large upper oval allows free passage of heavy-duty rope combinations common to rescue work. Single, double, or knotted 1/2", 5/8" or 3/4" ropes all pass with ease. The dual tie-in holes allow the '8' Ring to remain attached to the harness while the rope is fed through it and the attaching carabiner.
